Bouldering European Youth Cup: the Italians compete for Tito Traversa Jul 25th 2013, 09:22
During the Bouldering European Youth Cup at Argentiere in France the Italian squad won 6 medals: two gold, two silver and two bronze. This second leg was an important moment to remember Tito Traversa.
The Bouldering European Youth Cup took place on 22 and 23 July in France's Argentiere and the Italian team returned home with extremely positive results. After the excellent results obtained during the first leg in Sofia the squad competed with enthusiasm, but it also proved a highly emotional moment as the team commemorate 12-year-old Tito Traversa (the young climbing champion who died tragically on 6 July due to a climbing accident at Orpierre) by competing with Tito's name impressed on their T-shirts.
Here are the results: gold medals for Asja Gollo (Youth B) and Michael Piccolruaz (Juniors), silver for Martina Giorello (Youth B) and Annalisa de Marco (Youth A) who now takes provisional second in the European ranking. Third place went to young Federica Mingolla (Juniors) and Stefano Carnati (Youth B), now first in the European ranking.
The rest of the Italian Youth A category is noteworthy, too: Andrea Ebner finished seventh, Martina Zanetti twelfth and Giulia Alton thirteenth. Alice Gianelli placed tenth (Youth B) and Francesca Medici fourteenth (Juniors . The three Italian Youth B climbers - Asjia, Martina and Alice - now lead the European ranking.
As to the the boys in Youth A, Lorenzo Carasio placed seventh, followed by Lorenzo Malatesta fifteenth. In Youth B, Simone Tentori just missed the podium to place 4th, followed by Antonio Prampolini sixth and Enrico Capano twelfth. Among the Junior, Marco Gozzi ranked eighth.
The next leg of the Bouldering European Youth Cup takes place in Imst (Austria) on 26, 27 and 28 July
